Video Interview: Guy Carpenter's Tony Gallagher Talks Market Dynamics Across APAC

In this video interview with Asia Insurance Review, Guy Carpenter's Tony Gallagher, CEO, Asia Pacific, discussed trends in the reinsurance market for the Asia Pacific region.

"If we look at our tracker in terms of the capacity index, there's 30% more capacity than we needed at the 1st of January," Tony explained.

He also addressed patterns in risk retention.

"Overall insurance retentions have gone up by 30% in the last 5 years," Tony said. "So, you've seen a significant shift from risk from reinsurance to insurance, and you've seen the reinsurance results improve, but also the insurance results. And you've seen an increase in supply."
