Can we blame climate change for B.C. ‘atmospheric river?’

Guy Carpenter’s Kimberly Roberts, Senior Vice President, moderated a Cat IQ Connect panel, Secondary Perils Problems & Solutions: Data, Monitoring, & Modelling, during which a group of experts weighed in on how climate change affects specific perils that are most important to Canada.

Of particular interest were recent heavy rains, flooding and mudslides in British Columbia. While the panel did not definitively conclude that the “atmospheric river” in Canada is tied directly to climate change, there was concurrence that climate change makes such occurrences more likely.
