According to advisories of the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Hurricane Ian made landfall this afternoon at about 2:05 PM EDT near Georgetown, South Carolina. Maximum sustained winds at landfall were 85 mph, a category-1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Scale. Hurricane conditions and storm surge are ongoing threats, with tropical storm conditions and heavy rainfall extending well away from the center given the large footprint of the storm. The storm is still expected to move into the Appalachians and dissipate tomorrow per the NHC.
