The catastrophe bond sector had another record start to the year in 2022. By July 1, 32 different catastrophe bonds were brought to the 144A market for approximately USD 7.9 billion in limit placed, taking the total outstanding notional amount to over USD 34.3 billion.
Despite hesitancy from some investors due to inflationary and other concerns, 6 new sponsors successfully placed their first catastrophe bond, indicating sustained interest in this product.
