The Climate Health Threat Illustrator, developed by Marsh McLennan, discusses a broad range of health sector impacts affected by climate change. Guy Carpenter experts were among the contributors to the Climate Health Illustrator, as were colleagues across the Marsh McLennan organization.
For example, it is not difficult to conceptualize that longer and more severe heat waves pose significant health dangers, especially among such vulnerable populations as the elderly and those with chronic underlying conditions. However, the effects can also run deeper. For example, California wildfires forced evacuations of health care workers, disrupting badly needed medical services during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The illustrator allows users to sort through a variety of scenarios—by geography, interconnections, types of effects, stakeholder impacts, as well as steps involved entities can take to build resilience and decrease overall emission of greenhouse gases.
Guy Carpenter is uniquely positioned to help its clients understand which perils and regions are most at risk due to climate change. Working in tandem with Marsh, Oliver Wyman and Mercer, Guy Carpenter provides services to its clients that span multiple climate-related areas. These services include transition risk modeling, climate investment portfolio modeling, asset-level resilience surveys and scoring, and commercial due diligence.
