In this interview with The Insurer TV, Guy Carpenter’s David Edwards, Head of the Credit Bond and Political Risk Division, Global Specialties, describes how portfolio diversification into specialty lines has driven growth in the credit and political risk market, although challenges remain in this sector.

“It’s a challenging market at the moment, but for reasons that people wouldn’t necessarily think,” David explained. “The biggest challenge we face as a market is what we believe is a lack of recognition of the significant improvement in stability and performance over the last 15 years or so.”

David went on to describe the market as “extremely robust” over the last 5 years.

“As a market that was thought to be probably one of the most exposed classes to what’s going on in the world in the last 5 years, it’s actually proven to be very strong,” he continued.
